Leeds United Air Crash Memories

Lee Worth

Life in 1998

In 1998 Lee was married to Denise and had two children Jordan and Carly

He had been invited on the trip as a corporate guest of Leeds United.

The corporate guests and match commentators, Norman Hunter and Bryn Law, had enjoyed an afternoon of 10-pin bowling before the evening kick-off at West Ham.

Lee is pictured here wearing the white shirt

The last 25 years

I’m still a massive Leeds United fan and follow them up and down the country, even at my age LOL. Football is part of your life and I suppose it will remain that way. Its great to be back in the Premiership and fingers crossed we can survive another year, oh how things have changed over the past 25 years, once Mighty Leeds United.

I am now 65 years old (A pensioner I suppose you can call me now ) Just about retired and with four amazing grandchildren, a lot of my time is spent being a Grandfather which can be much harder than actually working for a living and playing very poor golf.

I am still in touch with a few of the people who were in the plane crash that awful night and we often talk about it. It created a little bond you could say between us and something we will never forget.

Seven years ago my son Jordan became a pilot for Jet 2 so I can see first hand all the hard work these pilots go through in their training and re-training every few months experiencing and recreating every kind of event possible that could happen whilst flying an aircraft. It just goes to show that all the training does work.

Once again I would like to express my sincere appreciation to Captain John Hackett for saving our lives that dreaded night, if it was not for his quick thinking none of us would be here today, A Massive thank you John.

Thank you Captain John Hackett

Best wishes from Lee, Denise, Jordan, Carly and of course all the Grandchildren.
