Ian was only 20 years old at the time of the crash.
He was playing alongside his uncle Gary Kelly who was the teams captain at the time.
The last 25 years
Ian stayed at Leeds United until 2004. He continued to enjoy a successful career playing for Levante, Sunderland, Blackpool, Carlisle United, Reading and AFC Bournemouth and also an International career playing for the Republic of Ireland.
By the end of Ian’s illustrious playing career, he’d amassed 547 appearances, scored 85 times and played 64 times for his country!
Ian is currently a football agent at Sports Management International working alongside his former Leeds United teammate Lee Matthews.
Ian and Laura married 22 years ago in 2001.
Ian and Laura have 3 children, two daughters and one son, Lily, Kaia and Jenson.
